The gun auction in Bancroft today was a bust. Drove 2 1/2 hrs each way and got nothing. The Carcano turned out to be a nothing special carbine and sold for $275, WAY over what I might have paid. The Colt Thunderer (labeled .41 percussion, but it is a cartridge revolver??) went for a good bit more than I was prepared to pay (but I knew that going in) and quite a bit LESS that what it would normally go for, only $875. Some nice Schmitt Rubins went cheap. As did several Lee Enfields. But I did meet a gentleman there who has a couple of Carcanos "the long ones" that he is selling for a friend. He's going to email me pictures. O.K., so maybe not a total bust. |

.....good to hear there are still some older collector type firearms out there....everything seems to have geared over to those EBR's lately... |

Bancroft! There's a blast from the past! Worked a farm a wee bit north of Bancroft in the summer of '74. Good honest menial labour. It must have grown quite a bit since that time, to rate a gun auction... I'm a good 1200 miles west of that now. Longest I've driven for guns is about the same- 2- 2 1/2 hrs...
