Attention New Members and those new registering! We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7. Thanks for joining us from the administration.

Here is the Take Down 1899 I recently got from a fellow forum member.
I intend on fully refinishing it. Just got done with the receiver. The barrel is next & then the wood. To complete it I need to find a colour case hardener that does not charge an arm & a leg for the lever. I am reblueing with a slow rust blue although not original (they were done in a charcoal blue process with is complex & not overly durable) should hold up quite well. I know purists would want to flog me for it but I don't plan on ever letting this one go

OK now I need to work on the replacement stock

Here is a pic with the rust blue job complete. Also one with it sporting
a 2-1/4 power prismatic "Boone" scope. I'll need to use this until I can find a replacement front sight blade.
