Yes, very nice! I'm glad they went to a good home and are in worthy company. While looking for these, I also found my EARLY 1899 in the 12XXX range with a "." instead of a comma in the serial number. The numerals of which are considerably larger than now.

It has a Marlin barrel, though so it stays.

FWIW, the majority of 1895 Savage rifles were made by Marlin. SW

The top one is a 19.XXX number (same dot you mention above) & the barrel marked "Sav.30." , found out there are only about 100 barrels made with that stamping before Winchester sued them & they were forced to put "30-30" on the new made barrels.

I think the "." is due to the fact that Authur W. Savage was not originally an American His father was a British Governor in the West Indies. In Europe they use a "." in place of a comma & a comma in place of the "."

(1.200,00 is twelve hundred) I am actually used to using this method when I jot down notes, that's what you get for working for the Germans for 13 years

Sometime when you have your early one apart, look closely on the barrel for anything that resembles MP in an oval. That would be a 'Marlin Proved' barrel - the mark is often poorly struck & hard to see. SW

Found my one and only 99 last Jan at a gun show. It looks like the third one down, an EG. It came with a 4x Weaver scope(old El Paso) model. steel tube with a dot reticule, and very pretty wood. Cal is 300 Sav and is a nice shooter. I just wish it had not been drilled and tapped for the scope.
