Good for hunting- to about 75 yds. They lose steam rapidly, though, so 75 yds is really kinda pushing it. Eight bucks per 100 ain't bad at all, considering what you're getting. A 40 gr h/p this side of the sound barrier. Wait'll you look at Lapua's pricing- not for the faint of heart, but worth every penny for those with a competitive bent... The long bearing band on the CCI subsonic precludes any use in true match chambered guns. It can be done with a bit of force, but the end result is high pressure, and a heavily leaded leade. They are finely accurate in my old 39-A. They don't have quite enough pizazz to cycle a s/a- strictly a bolt/lever/pump-s/s proposition. Kaintuck, you need to find something stable for hosting your photo's.... Regards, Doc Sharptail |

Doc, He's not hosting stable photos! On the topic of what's accurate, I like Aguila 60 grain subsonic. SW |

That figures. I kinda expected something like that, now that I think about it... If I think about it too hard, it get's sorta confusing Last time I seen the Aguila 60 gr Subs up here, they were going for twice the price of the Lapua Polars. That was at a gun show, about 15 years ago. The polars were 16 and change for a 50 box. I got 2. Finally found something that'll outdo the old Federal U.M.B. 90's- the ones with the dimpled case heads. Bought a box of early 50's Winchester EZ-XS at a show, and shot them in the 52. They sure put the green tag to shame. I sure wish they were still being made. Heard around that they may have been the last and final variation on the old Le-smok loads- a pinch of black mixed in with the smokeless. They had a definite sulfur odor to the empties... The Aguilla SSS needs a faster twist to properly stabilize the boooolit. So you won't get great accuracy out of them with older slow twist barrels |
