Here are the .22 cals that I have acquired so far: Mossy 46m that needs a few odd and ends. I bought it when I was just 18. That was 22 yrs ago (for those who can't do the math I'm 40...in just 1 hour 20 min). Winchester M270 pump. This seems to be a scarce critter. This was/is my Dad's. But I'll include it here cuz I have had it for a while. This is my Marlin 60, my favorite with a chinese no-name 3-9x scope (soon to be changed). Savage 65 with a Weaver v22 3-6x scope. This is technically not mine either. I got this for my son for x-mas. He is 8 yrs old and this is his first real rifle. This is my project rifle. Glenfield 25. It still needs a few things before I can shoot her, but she's gettin' there. |

My .22 collection seemed to appear over night! For the longest time I only had one, the Mossy. Didn't shoot it much cuz the front sight is missing. I'd still like to find one and a period scope. I fell in love with Marlin 60's when I had one on loan from my sister-in-law. When she left my brother, so did the rifle. That is when I found the one I have now (the one in the pic). 1982 mfg with hardly a scratch and she is as much of a tack driver as the first was (purdier too). I ended up with my dad's win M270 as an interim shooter. have it ever since. The Savage was an xmas present for my 8 yo son. $77 out the door. The shelac was peeling so I stripped it and gave it a coat of Tru-Oil. There is one small crack in the fore-end that needs some attension yet but otherwise looks new. The Glenfield was a $20 GB bid that I thought would be outbid. I was wrong, so it became a project. If it shoots decent, I'll make a squirrel sniper out of it. The thing I like most about .22's is the fact that they are cheap to shoot and cheap to buy. Dang things are as addicting as milsurps!! |
