Nice battery, no squirel is safe now.

Only collectable .22s in the family these days are my Brothers No.4 Remington Rolling Block, and its in sad shape, and the Marlin lever action he gave to his son.

I do have a Marlin M1 carbine .22, but it was a junker when I got it, not restorable since the rear sight was long gone. I reshaped the stock and handguard and made a band that resembles the M1 band,
My purpose being to see how close I can get the appearance to the M1. Looks pretty good now, and fits me much better since the comb of these guns is way to high for me in original form.
Luckily the bore was in great shape and all the damage other than the missing sight was to the finish. Shoots fine with nary a misfeed.

I'd tried to find an original rear sight and found they were going for about twice what the gun would be worth. Some parts for the rear sight were available but at ridiculous prices, and not enough parts to be found to make a complete sight.

and im gettin a bunch of squirrels these days , my great horned owls are falling down on the job , i hear them close lately but they havent settled in like when they nested over my wifes car a few years ago , they tend to migrate up & down the river at intervals as the squirrel population blossoms , i now have 18 minimum last weeks count - so im thinking of shootin

johnny - its a 66 , tube in the buttstock , its a tackdriver and is grooved for a scope but that top cover is so thin im worried about damage , so ill leave it with the irons , in the right hands ..............

the marlin is deadly with that scope and was intended to have one as it came with that mount ,

the reuger is also an accurate rifle and it runs so smooth you just ant to unload the clip too fast ,

the mosberg is the 'new one' and ive not had the opportunity to try it , but if its good ill be pleased and if its bad - ill still be plesased , because its vintage ,

im going to do photos of just my 22s one day soon - ive got a few more , and these have come as such an aside - little efforts toward a collection really , but more and more dear to my thinking , im nearly to the point of divesting the big bore military collections in favor of these ,

I've seen references to a military contract nylon 66 bought for elimination of pests at army bases, a milspec rat killer, I think it had a silencer attachment for some specimens.

I haven't seen one and about all I've heard of these was that a few had been sold on the civilian market, and that parkerized parts show up that came from this contract.
They were supposedly dark gray parked metal with a dull black stock. Very few made and may not have been issued other than a test batch.

Another rare .22 is the M14 trainer, I have seen photos of it. Looks just like an M14 except with a tubular receiver action with small ejector port that might be an H&R .
