Post subject:  Early Mossberg Semi-Auto

:nube: Hello Forum;
Here is my Mossberg model 51M(a) that my dad traded a Model A Ford for in 1940. He always said that he got the better deal on that trade. :grin: In 1952 he came home from a fishing and squarril hunting trip to Lake Texahoma, where they had spent 4 days in a Blue Norther storm and couldn't get out of the tents. When he got in the house he said "Son the gun is yours, I ain't going hunting again!". I was only five, but I never let him forget that he had given me his 22 rifle. :lol
Just before we moved back here to Texas from SoCal I took it to the range and forgot how sloppy the operating handle was fitting into the bolt. I got home fine but he cocking rod and sleeve didn't. I tried all the usual supects; Havlins, Numrich and E-Bay no luck. Then last Christmas my wife decided to move it and my 6.5 Carcano out to the barn to keep them away from the grandkids. Well by the time I retreived them they were a mess. I got the Carcano clean and rust free and now I am starting on my Mossberg. I will get it back into good shape even if I have to buy another one just for the cocking knob. This was the first rifle I ever shot or went hunting with and it is one of the few mementos from my dad.
Mossbergs Forever,
Wes

have a fondness for these old mossbergs myself , did a trade with ET a while back for similar in the bolt action then picked up one nearly the same in semi-auto at an auction , two of my very favorite 22s

do make her back to right , you will be very happy to pass that on to the grandchildren
