I recently upgraded my collection with the addition of this beauty. It is an original 03A4 receiver made in 7-43 with barrel in 6-43. I'm no expert but it seems to have had a front sight on it at some time? Scope is an early one with the wire crosshairs and electro-penciled "M73B1" & serial number on the right side, in great condition. With the help of the kind and patient range master I've got it sighted in pretty well. I don't plan on shooting it very much but I just had to get sighted in! |

You have to know those were made from existing A3 rifles at the arsenals, probably has a reversed stamp on the receiver then. They turned around the Remington 03A3 and serial # so it rolled to the left side of the receiver, to differentiate that it was an A4 configuration. So that is why it also looked like it had a front sight, it was removed on purpose by the arsenal. Your pics aren't posted anymore so I'm going by knowledge gained elsewhere. |

ahh - no they were special made , the receiver marking was offset so the scope did not cover them , these were not just an 03A3 , i have no photos of a real one because like M14 man "...I only have a ''fake' one...." and as most here will recall i converted it to a 22 cal since the barrel and reciever had danger issues ............... |

no worries , as you say lots of incorrect info , im noticing a lot on a couple of usually reliable sites with members that generally share the correct info , but for some reason most are silent these days letting the bad info stand , if you happen upon gunboards , rick the librarian is a fun source with some nice rifles , and i think M14man has a few as well , i know him to also be a good source , similarly there has been some bad data out there regarding the 03A1 - its simply a pre-WWII action fitted in a pre-WWI "C" stock [see below - bottom] and the 03modified , which is an accurate description of every remington 03 up till the changeover to 03A3 which was gradual but easily defined in its rear sight [see below - top ] unfortunatly , as ive mentioned before my US collection now is down to my hand guns & holsters , M14type , M16type , and two WWII knives , it once was fuller |
