Went shooting yesterday, and my M1 was shooting great till the third clip, second round. It was a little bit bigger recoil. Then the third round was jammed halfway in the chamber. I unjammed it and the last shell was split in half and stuck in the chamber. I got it out ok, but now the bolt is really loose when its cocked back. I keep the chamber super clean. What caused this? Before I take it apart to examine the bolt is there anything I should look for? Thanks for all responses. It was Remington core-lokt 150grain ammo. I am only going to shoot Garand ammo from now on. |

Don't know about the loose bolt. I do know it really isn't good to shoot commercial in an M1 unless you have one of those adjustable gas plugs to vent some of the excess gas I would take it to a qualified smith for a once over |

I would think the bolt would feel loose when to the rear since it really is not locked into anything. Buy yourself a broken case extractor. This occurance is not rare if you reload alot. I don't think there is any damage. Were these factory rds? |

Ya it was factory Remington ammo. I took it all apart and cleaned everything and it seems to work ok. I am going to take it to the range this weekend. Thanks for the response! Eli |
