Holy guacamole, $7K for a Remington 1903A4 at the CMP auction site. Link:
http://cmpauction.thecmp.org/detail.asp ... le-3425658Eight more days to go, not too late to get your bid in.
I saw one at Cabela's not too long about for, what was it, $1,600 or thereabouts. Not as nice as the one at CMP, but big diff. in price.
I've noticed that bids at the CMP auction site go outtasight. For stuff like bare receivers, hundreds of $.
I can just hear the schmuck that pays $7K for the 03A4, "But it comes with a CMP certificate of authenticity!"
You can (usually) get a good deal on an M1 Rifle through CMP. But unless you buy the CMP Special which is completely rebuilt, it's a bit like the candy machine with the "Jackpot" option. You pull the knob and you get what they give you. Unless you go to one of their stores (north or south) and they have stuff in the racks.
Still, some people for whatever reason, won't buy an M1 rifle from CMP. Some may not like the paperwork involved; others are willing to pay $400 or $500 more to see upfront what they are getting.
