BOTH!!!  and remember, 1 is never enough. By GP do you mean hunting and shootin? The garands tend to be cheaper, from the CMP at least, and the greek ammo ain't bad as far as shooting and price, but there's lots of extras around for the AR. Plus oyu can buy an AR in 5.56 adn get a different upper in 6.8SPC or 6.5 grendel, and still be able to use the same lower. With DPMS you can get 5.56, 6.8, .243, .260 and .308. .243 uses same lower as .308, so there's some versatility there

is it any DPMS lower, that has the different cals or is a spacific lower? |

A 5.56 lower will work with the 6.8SPC or 6.5 grendel, and a .243 lower will work with the .260 and .308. Here's the link, http://www.dpmsinc.com/ You can buy the uppers on-line, I buy mine at gun shows and buy the lowers seperate, it's cheaper |

depending on where you are that big fancy truck and trailer loaded up and left for a southeastern show [kentucky i think] and then off to the shot show in nevada ---flag em down , they probably got it right there with them

DON'T waste your time with the tanker kit. Get an M1 and leave it stock. They will be making AR's for some time to come but a real M1 has been out of production for many a year & will not only hold it's value but increase. My only M1 I puchased as a Federal Ordnance 'Tanker' in .308. Wasn't thrilled with the accuracy or overall look & feel of it. I had it rebarreled to original length but kept the .308 as the spacer was already in the receiver & didn't want to remove it. That & I had no other rifles in 30-06 at the time but plenty in .308 |
