Recently purchased this from an on-line estate auction and am trying to determine what I got.

Stock--"C" type, with C-SAA cartouche, boxed "P" proof on pistol grip, and an "S" on the cut-off cut-out

The receiver is s/n 3651823 and the barrel is marked with the flaming bomb and S-C, dated 3-43

The bolt is marked with a "X" and a "1", which seems to be correct for a post-war rebuild. I can't figure out the stock at all. Don't think that S-C's came with a "C" stock and not sure whether they re-arsenalled the 03A3's with "C" stocks .

Original barrel, replacement stock. What is nice is that it is a full 'C' stock.
They 9San Antonio Arsenal) probably tore it down, replaced small parts if needed, then put then it back together. It should have a mixture of parts, but that's OK. Did I say the 'C' stock is kinda rare, a little unique. You see alot of 'scants' and alot of straight types, but much fewer 'C' stocks. The square 'P' is a proof firing.

finish on yours looks original , not thinking it was redone , that is a nice stock -

according to my referance :

"the receivers[M1903A3] diverted [from the first number 'block' assigned] were numbered from no 3407088 to no 3427087..........the stocks for this initial lot of [sniper] rifles were Type 'C' stocks newly manufacturedand supplied by Springfeild Armory , with S tamped in the cutoff recess and modified at Remington Arms with cuts for the barrel ring and for the bolt handel clearance"

my A4gery is wearing a scant stock - many with A4s would love to swap their rifles scants for that stock ,

its a beautiful stock

Thanks, 10.

My son and I shoot in a military silhouette match at distances of 200 to 500 meters. We have been using Swiss rifles. May have to switch to American.
