alot would depend on the quality of the weld job. I would be afraid that a large weld and the resulting heating would weaken the reciever. If just a tack job some careful grinding could posibly work. At any rate If you do try and convert you should have it checked by a Pro. Also check the serial as some early rifles had a big problem with reciever detenation. These could be 03'A3 mock ups using those defective recievers.

+1 with what whitefeather said , i think it very risky to mess with live ammo in a DP rifle

they are out there , and you can get them reasonably if you are patient , worth it for your health and wellbeing
