Attention New Members and those new registering! We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7. Thanks for joining us from the administration.

What year is your H&R? Mine is a '55.

By the way, does anyone know how to find out which branch of service a given arm was issued to?

Okay, as long as you asked.

The first one is an H&R.
Second one is a Springfield from the DCM (before it was the CMP) I call it my Clinton Garand, it was the only nice thing he did while in office.
The third one is the first Garand I bought. The barrel was shot so I had it replaced with a Fulton medium weight barrel installed. NM sights and a new stock with 13 coats of BLO.
The last one is a Winchester. So far I haven't shot this one.

Old king cole, check your barrel date. It is on the barrel, right side and visible when the op-rod is back. My H&R 5,564,xxx has an 11-54 date. Bet yours is but 2-3 months after that.
