Recently picked this up at an online estate sale. Pictures are from the site, so they aren't very good.

This looked like it started out as a 1903A4 and that it might have the original scope mount. It has been re-blued, but the barrel looks GI. Hoping that it can be repro'd back to A4 condition.





The lettering on the receiver seems to be in the proper place for an 03A4.

No pictures of the other side of the receiver, but the item description has the serial number as 3424885

looks like it is to me , im not sure about the condition tho - looks to have been refinished , but might be a good candidate for returning to original , scope is wrong of coarse , but thats fixable as well

The rifles came yesterday.

The good news: The barrel is GI and uncut. Bore is a 2 groove, mirror sharp and gauges a "0" on the CMP muzzle gauge


The bad news: date and manufacturer, as well as the punch mark, it there ever was one, have been buffed off.

The floor plate is milled and has a release button and hinge.


Hard to see, but the scope mount is marked "redfield"


receiver markings, including the serial number are visible at both sides of the scope mount



The bolt has been polished and there is a letter "R" with a punch mark next to it on the underside of the handle. Nort sure if this an original A4 bolt or not. No safety lever.

looks good to me , im no expert on A4s by any means , but , it fits all of the descriptions im familiar with

My sons and I got to the range to shoot it last Friday. After we determined that the A4 liked 180 grain Federal Powershoks better than the 150 grains, and a bit of tinkering with the Weaver 4X Marksman scope, my son put three into a 5 and 1/2 inch reactive target @ 100 yards. That is NOT going to make it any easier to take this nicely done sporter apart. I love an accurate rifle.



There was a fairly stiff left to right cross wind, so I figured this was pretty close to being dead on.

the real deal is expensive...

that definetly looks to be refinished , but it is a real one , i cant say much on the stock but the price is much like some ive seen sell lately $3-5000 is common

mine is a fake - 03A3 made to look like one [before i got it] and i further converted it to a 22cal
