Post subject: | Finnish M28/76 Questions-reloading-sights |
I have been working up some reloads for the one I have and its going to be a while till I have one I really like. I have been using IMR3130 and AA2520 so far. I pretty much decided that IMR3130 is not the powder for the 7.62x54r. I feel that AA2520 is going to be perfect for this round. It is slow enough that I haven't had any pressure signs at .5 grain from max load. Like any other round I have reloaded for accuracy is better below max load anyway. I will be loading more with this powder and will let everyone know what load works the best for me. I still have some IMR4064 and IMR4895 to try. I just got in 1000 Lapua D46 185gr bullets. So I can't wait to try these out. I have a problem with the target sights on these guns, the aperture on the front sight makes a ring, then the front globe makes a ring, then the center of the globe is also a ring, so it looks like 3 rings. It is very , very hard to get a consistent sight picture. Has anybody else had problems with the sights? I am going to make new inserts for the front globe sight, maybe just a simple post and see if that helps. Thanks, Steve |

I like these kind of sights. Just center each circle & you should be spot on. I only briefly saw one of the 28/76's that I had transfered so I don't recall......is the front insert able to be changed out? You could always put a post type in there and only have to worry about centering one circle |

Yeah the the front globe allows for changing out the the inserts. No place to buy them them other than Gunbroker for around 45.00. I did make up two post type inserts. It took a while but found using the insert as a stencil and using a piece the steel lid from Russian light ball and a file it worked ok. I used some tin snips to get it close then filed the rest. I then heated it red hot, dropped in water and cold blued them. Now I need to try them out and see if any improvement. Steve |
