My greatest regret , in all ofd my "Yesterdays' is that my freekin' camera wont do closeups. No "Mac" flower to set, and 1 meter is the closest setting. Howerver, it is a scrubbed reciver, with the serial # on the left flat, just below the top flat and a large "W" smack'd on... just a mark I cant seem to be able to find anywhere else. any off the wall ideas? Serial is the same as the VKT barrels #, so its maby something the Finns did , Im thinking..... |

Does it look a bit like the WWF logo on this piece of paper??? If it does, it's the Wiener Waffen Fabrik (Vienna Arms Factory) logo. Pete gave me the hint. Also check under # 9. It's the same logo, but then found on a Mosin Nagant. Met vriendelijke groet, Martin |

Chip, What does the bottom of the receiver look like? Are there any numbers stamped and letters on it and are the finnish lines on the bottom smooth and parallel or a little rough? Are the serial numbers original and not a restamp when it was rebarreled? Greg |

Austrian seems to be it, Tex and Ranger. Thanx. If the Germans sold it to the Finns after taking them from the Russians, then that guns been somwhere! I havent taken it apart, but you have me thinking there Oldernavy.....I'll have a look when I can. I am thinking its a re#'d reciver, as its the same as the Barrel VKT put on there, and the "W" is just a plian old "W" just very big, twice as big a the serial #'s Nice way to look at the gun now |

Chip, I am pretty sure everyone is right about it being an Austrian mark. They liked to put letters after the serial # as all of my Stey M95s have a letter after the serial#. My other reason for asking about the bottom of the receiver is supposedly the Finns preferred Remington and Westinghouse receivers to make M39s and the only way I know how to tell is by looking at the finish and numbering on the bottom. I am just curiuous and wanting to see how many M39s were made from US M91s. |
