So when last you saw the intrepid 1944 Izhevsk it was a barreled receiver that had just had the scope mount reattached. Since then I've gotten the pins set properly, and then it was ready to reassemble!
Above is the exploded parts set. The barreled receiver, magazine/trigger guard group, stock, handguard, bolt, and scope.
At that point there was nothin' to it but to do it!
Dug out a nice old Soviet leather sling I'd been saving for the occasion, unfortunately it didn't come whith dog collars, so I had to kip those from a canvas sling. A little (okay a LOT) of neatsfoot oil and we're back together:
All in all this was a fun project - took much longer than I'd hoped, and I now have a greater appreciation of the tools required to do something like this. Now if I could just find an ex-PEM...
