Been to Germany last weekend and found a relatively rare Mosin Nagant.
It's one with a lot of history attached to it.
I asked the dealer put it on layaway and and promised him to call this week.
It's a Mosin Nagant produced by New England Westinghouse and captured by the Germans in WW I.
The Finnish Army owned it too.

A lot of history attached to it.
I think I will say yes to the dealer and pick it up myself in a couple of months.

Made some "not so very good" pictures.
Sorry.

Thanks Pete.
The wood of the rifle has seen better days, but the history that is attached to it is priceless.
It is a well used one but you know I like them this way.
I wish she could talk.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

Very nice! Made in the USA, sent to Russia, captured by the Germans (maybe if its the orignal stock), then sent to Finland then back to Germany. What a trip!

Martin,

I can't tell from the photo. Both the Remington and Westinghouse were originally stocked with black walnut. . I think this was Westinghouses only venture in the firearms business. I have had three Westinghouses. The first had original wood. The last two were Finnish restocks in beech or birch. Both Rem and West were the best made of the M91s. You can tell them just by the degree of finnish on the bottom of the receiver. I wish I still had all three. Supposedly the Finns preferred both makes for conversions.

Thanks for all your replies.
The stock seems to be original.
And even if it isn't , I will still buy it. :D
You don't see these US made Mosin Nagants that often over here and like RGRWJB says...."What a trip"....

Chip....thanks for reminding me.
I do need a Remington.
I'd love to have both flavors and maybe even one in cal 30-06(from Bannerman).
Ah well.....gotta keep looking for one.
Like my father said: Good things come to those who are patient, but sometimes you gotta push your luck. :D :D :D
Somewhere on this earth there is another Mosin Nagant with my name on it.
It's just a matter of time before it crosses my path.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

Those are nice finds. I really like the German stamp on the stock. I have two US made Mosins. One is stocked like yours and is battle hardened and the other was made pretty by the Finns with the stock. Both are great pieces of history. Good find but I hate to think we have to wait that long for more photos!
