This is one of my favorites.
The Mosin Nagant WZ 48.
A Polish single shot trainer in calibre .22 LR.
It’s just plain fun to shoot this rifle.
It’s a great shooter too.
2” groups at 25 meters and 3” groups at 50 meters.
The rifle can perform better, it's the shooter that can't.
I haven’t had the chance to shoot it at 100 meters, but I will one of these days.
It did take some time to find the right ammo for it.
I started of with MagTech, but the bullets landed all over the place.
I also had a lot of misfires with this ammo.
I also tried “Swartclip”, South African ammo.
This wasn’t a success either.
CCI and American Eagle performed great at 25 and 50 meters.
I think I will try American Eagles at 100 meters, because this is high velocity ammo and it performed great in my Anschutz .22 rifle.

IMHO this is a real trainer.
The rear and front sight are a copy of the Mosin Nagant M44.
So is the trigger and the weight of the rifle.





The bolt is a different story though.
It looks more like a Mauser type of bolt.





The ejector system is one I haven’t seen on any other rifle.
I know there are other rifles that use this very same system, but I haven’t seen one except on the WZ 48.






All I can say is that I have enjoyed this rifle from the minute I bought it.

Thanks Pete, it's just plain fun to shoot this rifle.
Every now and then you see one on E-gun Germany.
They are not that uncommon over here and the price is OK.
I bought mine in Germany and paid 150 Euros for it, shipping included. That's about $195.00 US.

Don't know about the Winchester Power Point.
I always use CCI standard velocity on the 25 meter range and American Eagles on the 100 meter range.
Both perform good enough for me.
You are right about the bolt.
It does look a bit like a Mauser kind of bolt.

I first saw these at Gibbs when I wandered in there many years ago looking for parts. I actually bought 3 for $150 back then. I liked them so much I bought a fourth! It was a great single shot kids rifle for training and just plain fun to shoot. I just recently stumbled across one in southern WV which I grabbed and sold to a friend. I still have one left out in the safe but it has not seen the light of day for quite awhile as the kids are all grown up and I tend to just shoot the Finn Mosins now. Maybe I will have to grab that out of there and shoot that next time I go shooting. Most of the ones you see now are beat up pretty bad making the one pristine one I still have look awful good. That is a nice one for sure, lots better looking than the few you see around here now. Every once in awhile I see one jump up on the boards and disappear real quick. Been seeing a lot of the Romanian Bolt action ones pop up lately for around $100 or so but I know nothing about them so I haven't looked close. Too busy chasing Finns! Congrats and Thanks for sharing!
