I am thinking about buying a scope mount uses a pistol scope and replaces the rear sight leaf in my M44. Has anyone tried one of these?

I have a friend that has one of these scout configurations and while it is not as convenient as a regular scope it has the advantage of not permanently altering the rifle. The limitations are limited field of view and only 2-3x magnification. North Star makes one that goes up to 7x, but I do not know about the rest.

ive found my eyes in need of help in recent years ,
while im wholeheartedly in favor of a no-D&T mount , i cant say ive been totaly pleased with the C&R mounts ive owned ,

as a result ive given up any serious shooting of many of my collectibles , i cant say im pleased with that eather ,

i have switched my shooting to more modern ARs and such that allow readily available optic options , i like shooting the 223s & 308s for fun and some of my 22cals ,

but its not the same - so if you can find an optic you like and can work with i encourage you to shoot your milsurp favorites while you can - all too soon the options become limited ,
