I picked up a Nagant. Im not rich so i picked up one without a scope mount. I didnt want to drill it so i went for the scout set up . I found on line that the rear sight can be remover easy so i did that and put a hand gun scope onto it. the problem is after a few rounds the dame scope walks forward and pushes my barrel heat shield forward also.<wood>.So question is is there a good base that i can use to hold my scope so it doesnt walk?I beleave i picked the right rifle it has the two holes pluged on the left side of the action. From what i understand this gun was ment to be a sniper but was converted back for lack of?

What the heck kind of mount did you use that will cause the the handguard to go forward? The mount itself cannot go forward if it is pinned/screwed in correctly. Sounds more like you have a scope ring problem than a mount problem. Maybe a pic of your rig can help us to help you.

The sliding handguard issue sounds like an M91 long rifle.

Can you show us a picture of your setup? I'm still having a problem visualizing what you are describing.
