Large or small, but those are some very nice rifles.
I love to read about the Japanese rifles.
You don't see these rifles much over here.
In fact....I only saw them in a museum and one of the members of the Dutch Firearms Collectors Association collects them.
Thanks for sharing the pictures mark.
I enjoyed watching them.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

The red one is an "almost" last ditch rifle, some corners were cut but not all.

I have another last ditch with the same red color and wood butt plate. Here is another shot of the first one and the other last ditch.

Quality will always win over quanity. Very nice rifles. If my eyes are not deceiving me I can see the sharp edges of the finger grooves - evidence of original finish. The red is beautiful but I am a little tilted to the orangish color stocks. Just sold four matching, mummed and original finish rifles to a guy that only collects them that way.

I enjoy looking at your rifles. riceone.

As a former custom wood worker I allways noticed the rounded edges of some stocks so I tried to stay away from sanded stocks.

Thanks all for the comments :!:

Tim makes a valid point, and I'd be interestd in the answer, but I agree with him, It's a nice batch of rifles man.
Keep going.
I'd wrather see an interesting group of six or seven than a whatever of 25.....not that I don't wish I had a "whatever" of 25!!!!!
I really mean no dis-respect to anyone here.

Whats up with not wanting to fire the trainers? Were they not made to actually be fired?

They come with all sorts of markings as they were made by a number of different companies. Many have a rectangular stamp with Japanese characters on the stock that actually reads "for blank ammunition only". Other tips are a one piece stock (no dovetailed butt splice), one piece tangs or no tang behind the receiver. They are generally pretty crappy looking and usually have no rifilings in the bore.
Some folks collect the trainers but they have never held much appeal for me.
Here's a photo of my 6.5mm ammo collection. The round over to the right with the pink bullet is a blank. The bullet is actually made of paper & it's loaded with black powder. These rounds are quite rare so don't shoot them if you find any!

I was convinced by the likes of riceone that it didn't really matter. I gave it a shot, it didn't work out.
No bad, no foul.
I'm sorry that we don't add up to you expectations.

WOW I have never seen that many nice ones ones all in one place.
My dad and his twin brother started our small collection- on Okinawa.
Trainers may be totally in the white (no Blueing) the may be marked with white paint characters on the stock. I dumped one a few years back like that and lost a good safety knob I still need to replace. I sold it to a respected local collector who understood it was a trainer. I was afraid to sell it to anyone else and thought I would own it the rest of my days. I got burned on it when I was pretty young and knew it all - it was sold to me as a "Navy" t-39. The gentleman who bought was Japanese American and told us it was a school rifle. It was replaced the same day with type 99. In the end the trainer may become worth more but I couldn't shoot it so it was of little value to me

Jon, no one has to prove anything to me. It's just kinda frustrating to pop in here & get the sense that some of you guys apparently have no desire to learn anything about these rifles. The information is there for the taking. When I was a teenager in the '60s I started collecting these fine rifles & I couldn't get my hands on enough information. Then a few books came out & I devoured the information. I don't get it - why collect something you're not really that interested in learning anything about? In this instance what you didn't know could have cost you an eye or even your life!
