An atticle I read somewhere said 200 parts sets were made and 125 rifles were assembled for testing. Parts breakage was a big problem. Therefore, few, if any surviving examples are matching.

I got to hold one in my very own hands at Tulsa 2-3 years ago. the magazine is a ten rounder. loaded with two 5 round stripper clips.

Price tag, I think, was $24,500. That was my main reason for not buying it.

The garand clone came far too late to be of any real value,they would have been far better served to have went with the Pederson clone or the ZH29 even if they wanted to issue a semi auto battle rifle.

They type 4/5 was a navy effort, and suffered parts breakage, from my understanding from not so much poor metalurgy as it was too literal a copy of the M1 in many respects. I have heard the op rod spring, was a pure copy of the M1, in all regards, but not proper in performance for the 7.7x58. That may seems silly, but savage in WWII made a copy of the MG42 for the military and had to drop it when they found out they had missed some critical dimensions on some parts when modifing the design for the larger .30 cal cartridge, and the weapon wouldn't work.

I think those may be B-50's (b-29D) or even the soviet clones (they reverse engineered B-29's bolt for bolt) but the engines look like the later pratt-whitney 4360's to me. check out this B-29 picture tho,,eerie similarity http://www.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/ ... 9b-042.jpg
