Hello to the Board , i would like to see if anyone can tell me what this was possibly used for i have never unfolded it but it weighs about 60lb .

Sorry for the delay had to play Santa Clause, The tag translate , first line { cargo Parachute } #2 is { serial number } #3 is {manufacture Date , first number is year of Emperor ? i was told 1944 ,# 2 is the month & # 22 is the day } line # 4 is { manufacturing company, Tan- Chun Air Industry Company }. The guy that translated it is a Japanese Employee at Volvo Trucks Foreign communications Office . I have had this for several years and got it from the nephew of a lady that lived in S.C. , her husband worked at Newport News Shipyards in Virgina during the war and found it on a ship in for repairs , he addresses it and sent it home to his wife thinking of the silk to make dresses out of this was a common practice in the UK . If you look at the first picture you can see the word " TO " this is the start of her Address in S.C.

neat story too, silk was much in demand in those dark days, ladies would draw the seam of their stockings on the back of their leg, it was a time of doing without.
