I know absolutely nothing about jap rifles, but after seeing yours and reading about them, my interest is piqued. I've seen lots of titles for books on the subject, but could someone suggest a good book to start with, so I can make a good choice on my first rifle, should I decide to buy one.

Gargoyle mentioned Military Rifles of Japan,5th edition, would that be a good one to begin with?

MRoJ is Japanese Weapons 101. A must read to get an overview of what Japanese weapons are all about. Without the book your just farting in the breeze! There are so many different types, series, and variations that were made that the beginner can easily get burned or walk by a great deal on some of the rarest rifles in the world. A little knowledge goes a long way in this hobby and the book only costs $42.00.

If you buy a used copy, make sure it's the 5th Edition. The only other one worth having, unless you are collecting them all, is the first.

Right up there with MRoJ 5th as a must have is "the Japanese Type 99 rifle" 2nd edition white/voigt., and last but not least Frank Allens new book on the T-38 ,I belive its still available from the author, And theres a quick link for it on castle-thunders home page Also. with those 3 books a person is about as ready as you can be for collecting arisaka...only thing after that is experience.
