There are a number of variations on this style pouch. Some even have shoulder & waist straps. Anyway - I really just wanted to try the group photo feature thing.

Wow, that group thing is pretty cool. Still, that first pouch should be the last photo - it's a rubberized canvas version of the leather cav. pouch.

Goggles is right about the one shown in the T-99 manual it doesn't have the tool loops but it has a shoulder strap. There's another type of pouch shown that, I think, was meant for rear echelon troops that didn't need the full 120 round load that front line troops carried.
Here's what that one looks like.

On Price, boy- I don't know. See so few of these it's hard to say.

This bandolier style of ammo belt is also shown in the manual. These are often seen being worn in original photos of Japanese cavalry troops. It has 6 pockets for 60 rounds of ammo, two pockets for the T-91 grenade and a pocket for an oiler. One not quite as nice as this one sold on e-bay recently for over $1100.

Repros made in China and marketed by Nakada in Japan are available through Stewart's Military Antiques in AZ so be careful of "well used" ones you may run across at shows. Jerry Price, a long time, very knowledgable student of Japanese Militaria and I were at a N. FL show several years ago. One dealer had one of these, well used (put 15-20 times in a washing machine?) that neither of us could tell if real or a Nakada repro, so we passed.
