check out this "early" jinsen type 99. i like the description of the serial number. even though it's clearly marked 94,228 the seller proudly describes it at s/n "94 of 1400 made in the zero series."

be a hoot if some one actually bids on it.

The serial numbe of that rifle is 94888 which is near the end of production. Notice the flat top on the front band another indication of late production. If it were serial numbe 94 it would be in the configuration of the early Nagoya's. I have serial number 387 and it is mint with all early features. The rear sight is indication of late war, you are right. Rifles with the flat top on the front band are very desirable, he might just get his price for that not the 94 serial number, thats a joke. riceone.

Went and looked again, it could be 94228 or 94000 with the "0" being double stamped. But it sure isn't 94 1 of 1400. Wonder how he arrived at that. riceone

noticed the flat front band, but i'm not much into the last ditch rifles. For some reason, i like the t38 series of rifles much more.
I did send the guy an email asking if I might be missing something, since the rifle pictured was a 40th series jinsen.

maybe he is confusing the jinsen t38 education rifles. the one i picked up a few months ago was s/n 197, iirc.

Just thought y'all might get a giggle out of his description. Keith

i know of at least one "chick" that collects japanese firearms and she is dead serious about it ,

this topic goes to show some sellers will try to blow smoke , but in this day of internet tech why would he so blatently missrepresent this ? it would make more sence to have some far fetched 'bring back' story
