The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. I would say that if you really wanted to shoot the gun and you must use a scope, the mount pictured below looks like a good option as long as you retain all the sight parts. If the gun is untouched military, I would not drill holes of anykind in the gun. Go to a pawn shop and pick up a jJapanese rifle that has been sporterized
Your question is valid, but in a Japanese rifle "collectors forum", you may stir up a bee hive. Post some pics of the rifle and maybe it might be a good candidate to tinker with......or not.

I checked out the link and apparantly the mount requires no gunsmith or modifications....it can always be restored to the original configuration.

I'm with you Don, leave it as is. A scope ruins the looks of the rifle. Sure wish I had something my daddy brought back. riceone
