The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. At one time I kept all serial numbers and descriptions in a small ledger. Then I went to a spread sheet. Now I am working on taking pictures and printing them to go in an album. Since most of mine are Japanese I take a picture of the right side of the whole rifle, a picture of the top of the receiver and one of the left side where the series, arsenal mark and serial number is. Print them on one sheet of photo paper and put it in the album. Just about everything you need to know is now recorded.

I basically do the same -- For each rifle I make a hard copy document with the basic make model, serial, cal., year, original receipts...etc and a detailed description of each rifle. I also include a digitally documented hi-rez picture CD along with each specimen.

It takes a bit of time, and really becomes just another part of the hobby. But it will also be a help to my Family who will one day get them when I reach the pearly gates of the firearm cosmos.

this is what ive been working up to , trying to improve my photo skills first - some trurn out great others are crap , i like the idea very much , and im hoping to use the photos i did for my mkV as a guide but i think i need to look very closely at your approach to minimize the over photos

I should get more detailed records before I get more carried away... Right now would probably only take a good majority of a day to do.
