Beautiful work.

I have a business associate who has made a few professional films on a small scale including a WW2 drama in which he used two Chinese built copies of WW2 Russian reconaisence planes and the fuselage of another to represent a crash site.
He'd mentioned the difficulty in finding accurate reproductions of WW2 equipment. His crew built a passable 88mm Flak cannon from the tube his new carpet was rolled on some plywood, with camo netting it worked out okay for a few seconds of screen time. I pointed him to a cheap plastic airsoft replica of the MP40 for some of the NAZI troopers, this saved him 100 bucks a day per gun rental fees for prop weapons..

This got me to thinking about the difficulty of supplying the rare weaponry, and Japanese Sniper rifles have got to be among the most rare.
I'd bet this Sniper rifle would bring in several hundreds of dollars per day in rental for a WW2 film set in the pacific.
It looks just as it should for a Sniper rifle in use at the time. Carefully cleaned by the user and not banged up. It doesn't look its age but it does show the signs of use and the slight discolorations of oil around the handguard and some handling.
You have to figure the scope and mountings would receive plenty of attention and the user would take special care that they weren't damaged.

Roy,

This is not a restoration.
This is a piece of art.
Simply fantastic.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

Gun Nut, you have a way to repair crazing in the adhesive on a laminated lense? I have an old Saturn Boone prismatic scope with that problem on the ocular lens

This is kind of a rare scope & wouldn't want to mess it up. Will have to find an 'expert' to work on it. The ocular lens comes out easy enough but it hasn't completely separated just crazed around the edges.
