Hey Guys! well plenty of Japanese collectors here so maybe you can help. I"m looking for Japanese looking display heads so the uniform collection looks a little bit better. anyone has a place that sells them? I found one place but the replay I got was "we don't ship outside the US" I'm looking for something similar as on the pic

Hey Roadmouse, The head looks very well done. Is that the original sculpture you made or one of the molded copies? What material are you using to make the heads? We don't even know what country you hail from. |

Thats a molded copy Oldernavy, the outside is fibreglass with a core made of foam. but we are still thinkering a bit with it, some issues arrose with that foam core shrinking and sometimes pulling the thin fibreglass wall inside and thus breaking it. I can't figure it out... some heads stay good while others, the foam shrinks 50% after standing there for a couple of weeks. Alain Gent, Belgium, Europe |

Roadmouse, Well whatever it is it has very good detail. If you are using a polyurethane foam is it catalyzed or moisture activated? I can see this causing problems along with differences in ambient temperatures while curing the first week. Do you make the fiberglass skin first and then add the foam? I am not knowledgeable in these techniques. |

the mold is a two piece system. align the two halves, close and lock them, mix a batch of fibreglass (I add a little fine sand to the fibreglass to give it more texture) and pour it in, turn the mold to get that liquid fibreglass in every nook and crany, let it dry and then fill it up with the PU foam. the foam is catalyzed activated you have about 1 minute to mix the two components and pour it in the mold, one minute thats not a lot! |
