I know this is a weapons forum, but I do know there are a lot of people here collecting the other stuff too so... if you don't have a jap dog tag in your collection, maybe now is the time
this came up at e bay,
A guy bought at an auction a footlocker dating WW2 when he opened it it was mainly filled with junk, but inthere he found several sugar bags and to his amazement they where filled with japanese dog tags and now he is selling them off.
he has hundreds of them so...
don't be a fool like some crazy people are doing, and do not bid ! just write him, he is selling them at 20$ a piece shipping is free.
so I took 5 already and a Californian museum has an order in for 100
for once I'm sure these are original pieces and not some chinese made junk
here is the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

That's remarkable! There must be quite a story how those were collected - from the fallen on some South Pacific island? SW

yes indeed , it would be interesting to hear that story , would be nice if they were recorded and the list provided to the japanese historical records ?

not sure if a list would do much good. from what I understand of japanese dog tags (not much) they didn't record names, but were assigned by units and carried unit i.d. and a number assigned by the unit. without the unit roster, they can't be traced to an individual.
if the units can be identified from the tags, they might find out which island they came from.

y'all have a good day, Keith
