DESCRIPTION: Scarce Japanese T.30 "Hook Safety" Arisaka carbine. The carbine was manufactured by Tokyo arsenal, as indicated by a symbol stamped behind the serial number. The Imperial Chrysanthemum has been ground off

it shoots the standard jap 6.5 caliber bore dark and pitted but shootable. it is a really neat looking little carbine.
was wondering if anyone knows anything about these little carbines i picked this one up today for the high price of $40.00. didnt know what i had but found it on the net. the safety is not the usual round know of jap rifles it is a hook on the back of the bolt. information would be appreciated. argie1891 aka joe gifford

...could use some closeups of stamps on the left side receiver....and mebbe the whole receiver/back end from different angles would help and be neat...I've got some good reference material here on them that might fill in till riceone comes along and adds his expertice... ;)

Thought you might like to know that Argie let me have that carbine and it's way down here on the south where it will stay. I'm very proud of it. I have had one once before but sold it, going to keep this one.

I have ammo and dies for it but doubt I will ever shoot it. However I do intend when I have time to clean the barrel as good as I can. It still has riflings but there is what looks like rust. When I get it cleaned to my satisfaction I will post again. This rifle was adopted in 1897 and was in service till the T38 came out in 1905 (I think).
