Thursday was a rain day for work. I stopped by a place that I have been going to for nearly 20 years and a rifle was brought out to me that had been held in the back room for nearly a year in my behalf ( Unknown to me ). I had been there a few times in the year but the owner had not been. It is a 100% correct 1912 LSA... when I say 100% I am referring to the numbered original parts and every part that is supposed to have a LSA inspector mark does, right down to the handguards. The rifle wasn't sanded... just cleaned and unfortunately varnished. The other downside is the missing chunk of wood behind the charger bridge. I have taken pics of it's present condition and let me tell you..or rather let the pics show you what a pig it currently is... dirt and dust EVERYWHERE. The first pic in the set shows the dirty and rust areas, then the numbers matching and finally all of the correct proof marks on all parts. The action is very tight and there are no export or import marks anywhere on it. It doesn't seem this rifle saw the front line action and was obviously never messed with since production.... would be interesting to know how it got here.

that is undoubtably one of the finds of the year! As you have said,it is 100% correct and in unbelievably original condition. I am sooooooooooo jealous

The stock repair should be relatively easy if you use who I'm sure you will - Scott Stonehill. I'll even look through my stash of sporterized wood and see if I have a color match to send him.

that has to be one of the best ive seen in a while - wish my local haunts would set such things aside for me and hold them a year waiting for me to drop in
