Post subject: | rawson sight screw |
hi, i have a question for all sight buffs, i have a rawson aperture sight with the "tru-vu" peep its a real eyecatcher it is mounted on my 2a1 but my problem is the screw what holds the elevation post to the mount plate is one i found in my junk box and its a philips head (arggggg butt ugly,) i need a source to get a correct screw (i'm not fussed about it being original a repo would be as good ) but that philips has gotta go. please if you know where i might be able to get one do tell,,please . this sight deserves better than an ugly philips. thanks and have a great night . adrian |

You can try this fellow http://www.peterdyson.co.uk He has reproduction screws for Martini's & such, he might be able to steer you in the right direction |

Scott at customscrews s in the process of making me a "lever fixture"( quick release fixture) as used on the CENTRAL SIGHT PLATES he and others think it will work just fine being they are both Australian made sights. using the same TPI. can't wait till it gets hear but i understand scott is a busy bee so patience is a virtue ,luckily i have patience ... thanks again to Scott . |

Scott, Evans screws, has retired so that's not really an option anymore. BUT, the screws for my Central, which I believe are the same, (3/16th x 32 TPI thread) can be (almost perfectly) replaced by a common #10 32. There's a very slight difference in pitch but the mount plate is thin enough it doesn't seem to be a problem. Lowes & Home Despot frequently have them with quite decorative "knobs" as they're used for electrical stuff! Here's a couple of examples. just ignore the "extra" screw, I keep it there so I don't loose it! |
