Here is my 1916 Ishapore .410. Converted in 1931. The stock is on the rough side but the bore is mirror bright. It is in original Brit .410 chambering.

Can't have an Enfield collection without one of these. I have already formed about a dozen cases for it. I should get off this computer and go out and form some more.

the one i had was 40-something conversion , i never did get past form firing the cases before i sold it , i had found the one that was US chambered and it provided more shooting with less fuss , but i could never get above 50% with the trap shooting , it was too front heavy

that would be the right approach , somewhere i had a nice itemised explanation of the dos and donts for this but ive obviously put it where i wont loose it since i cant find it ....old age is not fun on some days

The method I use is to load 5.0 grains of Red Dot, tamp down a wad of newspaper over the powder, fill nearly to case mouth with #8 shot, then
tamp dow another wad of newspaper over the shot.

I started with a lesser charge but it was not blowing out the shoulder completely. I increased the charge until the case was formed completely.

I use standard large rifle primers.

so this crossed my mind , not sure why , wonder how well it might work to use handmade shot shells in necked cases in a standard rifle with a shot out bore ?
i feel it would probably be just as effective at close range as the RFIs ...... and you could retain the magazine capability

The case would probably separate at the shoulder area with the increased pressure of trying to swage the shot column down to bore diameter. Increased pellet deformation would open up an already iffy shot pattern.
Interesting question though.
