They should not have it where you can chamber a round. Years down the road, someone who bought the rifle and died, their relatiove who knows zip about guns will try it out. Over time someone who does not know guns will fire it!

Its all in good natured fun no foul intended. I am sure we have all done far worse and if we survive gain a little wisdom that last a couple of years.

This did not register 1 on a scale of 10. That little brass disc would have had to make a 90 degree turn to do anything and that would have broken the laws of physics.

All the DP P14's I have come across have had a steel rod passed through the holes and welded at each end. This was to prevent the chambering of any kind of ammo. :-o :-o :-o :-o

I have to tell you this. In approximately 1990 I was at the range and a guy had a 7x57 mauser. I do not remember whether it was a 95 or 98. Someone had previously mounted a scope on it only they drilled into the chamber before taping the holes. Every time the guy fired it he had to hit the bolt to get it open. This would iron the bump in the brass back down. I told him I did not think it was wise to fire a gun with a hole all the way down into the chamber. Kind of made me nervous. :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

Mike,
If you are referring to the mauser. It was not mine and I advised the owner not to shoot it. And yes the only cure would be to rebarrel, but I did not know the guy and it was not my decision to make. I would have filled the chamber with epoxy. The only thing keeping the brass from giving was the small diameter of the screw hole. The same thing would apply to the P14----new barrel.
