Picked up a very nice all matching old import with a like new 5 groove barrel and #1 bolt head. Looks like it had not been fired since rebuild. All the maker markings are gone. I think it may be a Maltby. Stock is flawless.

if a maltby it would be a mkI/2 if it were converted to mk2 standards

you were correct oldnavy - FAZ made the new ones in england , POF made em in pakistan [not going to dis these again ]

but the FTRs converting to mk2 were as neil states and these were marked as a 1/2 if a converted mkI [maltby , BSA , FAZ , etc] and a 1/3 if a converted mkI* [savage or longbranch]

im guessing he thinks it a maltbe because they were noted for the nearly indiscernable "M" that when misstamped looked a little like a partial broad arrow stamp , these were on left buttsocket
