Pretty decent wood too. It's old, but no major dents or scratches. Has the grooved forearm.

Well, except for the rear stock as I don't have a screwdriver long enough, I did disassemble everything else and thoroughly clean it. The cosmo (Or whatever the Brits used) was not all that thick like from all my Mosins. As near as I can make out, it is a 1943 ROF(F). The bore is nice and shiny with very sharp rifling. I hand cycled 10 rounds with no problems. (Though I'm still waiting to get some stripper clips I ordered) The cock on closing is taking me a little bit getting used to. If the weather cooperates the first range trip will be Monday. (I hate weekend crowds)

Was surprised that the rear sight was a flippable 2 diopter sight. Was not expecting that.

Bummer. Woke up Monday and the snow flurries were going sideways. Decided that would not be a good day to see how the rifle grouped. Maybe Friday before the weekend crowds get there.

I can live with this. Oh yeah, at 50 yards. That's about the best my eyes will do with iron sights until I break down and get some glasses. May need to drift that front sight just a wee bit.

Well, except for the fact I have about 1000 147 grain FMJ's that I also use to reload my 7.62X54R's with, and the fact I just bought an 8 pound jug of H4895........... :bigrin:
