A friend was telling me how most if not all the Carcano rifles captured by the Austrians in WW1 were converted to 6.5 Greek Mannlicher-Schoenaur.
Seems the Austrians had a couple warehouses of Greek ammo that was nationalized at the outbreak of war. With the chronic shortage of rifles, it made good sense to run a reamer into the chamber of the captured Italian rifles that they could be used with the plentiful Greek ammo.
So I cast the chamber of mine just now & sure enough! Not 6.5x52 any more - it's 6.5x54 now.
Probably not a lot of trouble with modern brass like Privi-Partisan. If one was to shoot some vintage ammo that has become more brittle with age, though, case separation becomes a real possibility.
I know we have quite a savvy bunch of shooters here that wear eye & ear protection at the range. Still... whan a case separates and the hot gases start escaping, you wouldn't necessarily want them to make red marks on your mug.
Something to consider if you have an AZF Carcano languishing in a closet somewhere.
BTW, if you elect to sell same, send it to Nebr & not Cali! We wouldn't want our pal, mybusa exposed to the potential hazards!!!
