True story, Italian rifle fans! The Carcano is available in four calibers. Shown from top to bottom are 8mm - 6,5 Greek Mannlicher - 7,35 and 6,5.

Here are receivers. Notice the cut for longer 8mm cartridges. The Greek one shows a (poorly) stamped E to show it was converted to take the more commonly available ammunition. I'm not entirely certain what the E means... both communist and nationalist group names began with that letter.

Here are stock markings. The white is an Arabic word meaning trainer or similar. ( taleem) Most of the 8mm conversions went to Egypt, Syria and the UAR for use as trainers. The low quality paint was just slapped on and complete taleem markings are not common.

The Greek cav carbine shows a star which I believe is from communist partisans. Nothing in print that way, but I've examples on Carcanos and Steyrs which have come from the Balkans.

We see a caliber designation on the 7,35 stock. The 6,5 is so common, a stock pic really isn't necessary. SW

Awesome! Which one is the most accurate, and/or fun to shoot?

My most accurate Carcano is a 7,35 cav carbine by Beretta. They are all about equally fun to shoot. I've pretty much settled on cast boolets for all. SW

Interesting. I never really thought about it before. And now I realize I actually have all four calibers: 8mm cav carbine, "E" M91 long rifle, 7.35 M38 and 6.5 everything else.

Any more info on the Greek, like mods besides the longer chamber? Any import marks? I would imagine that 6.5 Carcano was much more plentiful, unless given specifically to Greeks. Also consider it could've been gifted by the Tito Partisans to Greek ELAS communists, even after WWII and into the Greek Civil War until 1949.

Import markings on the Greek rifles are inconsistent. A lot of them came in from Albania while others have no import mark. This one has no import mark.

No standard mods, but you well know about the wide variety of personal marks and decorations. SW
