Before you bid big on something that APPEARS to be a scarce item, ask around first!

Case in point... in a recent auction, someone bid on what appears to be a scarce Brescia M91 long rifle. Only 50,000 made! But like every other arsenal, Brescia made replacement barrels.

These had the year and maker stamped on the barrel. The serial number was left blank. When a rifle came in to be rebarreled, the old serial number was stamped on the replacement barrel. In this case, the XI letter block comes back to a 1916 Terni = quite common.

The seller also alleged the Tubata mark is RARE! No. Not hardly.

Ask first, Friends! You will get straight information here! SW
