Got two new ones. 1860 Army black powder, and a 45.lc single action. Took both of them to the range yesterday. The 1860 shoots real well. Very accurate out to fifty yards. The .45lc was kinda all over the place at twenty yards. It was around eight inches high most the time. Shooting 200 grain cowboy loads. I'm going to try some other ammo. Any suggestions. Im not reloading yet, so it'll have to be commercial ammo. Thanks, Eli.

You could measure the bore - there have been reports of diameter variation in these. To what extent or consistency I can't say.

You could then buy commercial bullets or loaded ammo a couple thousandths over bore diameter for better accuracy.

Any play in the cylinder? Does the cylinder/barrel gap seem excessive? SW

Cylinder locks up tight. Cylinder/barrel gap looks good. I can barely see through there. It's less gap than on my .22 revolver. I will jam a .454 lead ball down there and measure it and get back to you. Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it.

the 1873 is a cowboy staple , if its used - may well have been used for that , we tend to buy and sell always looking for that next one , ive had a dozen now and have retained two sets plus one , i load so im not going to bore you with what and why but mine shoot best at about 600fps with the 200grn , most commercials are moving faster , this is not a distance load , we shoot pistol targets at under 10 yards mostly , the idea is fast so the targets are large as well ,

not bulls eye by any means , i know there are those that have 357/44/45 rugers that can give you more on the accurate side of these great revolvers ,

Went and shot the 1873 clone again. The cylinder pin was coming out. I had it on the wrong notch. I put it on the right notch and it shoots better but still really high. Thanks you guys. You all are a great help as usual.
