I bought a Bodeo 1889 revolver with a strange inscription on the butt.

I think that in some moment of his life it fell in Austrian hands and was assigned to some unit but I don't know which.

Can somebody help me?

The only Austrian unit word with a 'W' I know is "wacht" or guard. Perhaps WR means guard regiment? SW

It's a Bodeo mod. 1899 produced on 1891 by Reale Fabbrica d'Armi, Brescia.
It was blued during first WW, because the original one were "blank".
I think that it was a war booty of the Austrian Army for the strange inscription.
Here with a Spanish Bodeo:

I have a Bodeo by Obreros Hermanos of Spain, and it's very well made. Shoots well, too. I hope to find one by Toschi Castelli someday just because I have Carcanos by Castelli. SW

Very strange! The three factory that produced Bodeo for the Italian Army were the Antonio Errasti, the Arizmendi & Goenaga, the Salvador Arostegui.

Obreros Hermanos means "Workers Brothers": are you sure of this?

You're right - my Bodeo is by A Errasti. I have different kind of revolver made by Obreros Hermanos chambered for the Italian service cartridge that could have been purchased privately. SW

May be "Orbea Hermanos", that produced a top break like the S&W, know in Italy as "Tettoni" from the name of the importer.

Yes, that's it. It's in the back of the safe, and I was too lazy to dig it out to see. SW
