We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

Pick up a M38 Cavalry 6.5mm, scrubbed of most markings, TQxxxx prefix on left side of barrel in front of receiver. Stock STxxxx, Fixed rear sight, No import marks as I can see, has L. FRANCHI BRESCIA on underside of receiver. Can you tell me any more about this, Year, refurb, where it was last worked on? Will try to post some pics. Thanks for the add to the group!

Since it was one of the very last made, (late 43 - maybe early 44) it might not have gone through refurb unless it has been parkerized. That the stock doesn't match the barrel is not uncommon - it could have been changed post-war or even after-market by a former owner. We will probably never know which.

To nail down refurb, look for a star stamped on the top tang where the bolt rides. I'm guessing you won't find one.

Franchi marked examples are not common - you see his name mostly on 8mm conversions. It's the same Franchi name as the company that makes shotguns today.

Yours was made at the Gardone, V.T. arsenal. Late in the war, guns were only marked with serial numbers & in a few cases, not even those.

And since I have OCD, I did change spelling in your post title. The word you used related to Christianity. My bad! ;)

Welcome to the site! SW

So what identifies this as a Gardone, V.T. arsenal built rifle?

The serial number letter prefix shows where & when a Carcano was made. You pretty much need the serial number list for that. My book containing same is completely sold out, but I *hope* to have a second volume in print later this year with the serial number list included again.

In the meantime, I will gladly provide serial number information to people asking here.

I tried your link but was "not authorized" to view the image. SW
