The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7. Thanks for joining us from the administration.

This is one for SW aka Nebrhogger!

Whilst looking for more information on the 8mm Carcanos I found this little note about a sniper Carcano. It does look as if it was made "in the field" but hey who knows.

This is a strong reminder to never say never. At first, I thought there would be better choices than an M38 cav carbine for a sniper rig, but I looked in my chronograph log & saw that I had good accuracy results with my Beretta.

Like hunting, it doesn't matter what you use as long as you can consistently put the bullets where they need to go.

The only pic I have ever seen of a Carcano sniper rig was a WWI M91 long rifle with a French scope. Unhappily, I have deleted that pic from my computey file. SW

Okay. I looked around and found the WWI Carcano sniper rig pic. They used French scopes, and the mounts were made from scratch by various armorers. Very few of these existed.

It is true that the sniper went out with two other soldeirs. Their job was to retrieve the scope if the sniper was hit. Which would certainly give the sniper a lot of incentive to shoot straight & hit the target with the 1st shot! :-o

I've seen conversations of the Austrians having a sniper set up for the M.95 Steyr... Hard to say if it would be any more accurate. I would not want to be on the wrong end of either!!
