I just bought this rifle which I believe to be a Carcano Model 1891/41 Long Rifle. I wonder if the markings under the rear sight or on the cartouche tell you experts anything interesting.

not a 91/41, it's a model 1891 long rifle made at mida brescia in 1917. iirc, mida brescia marked rifles were only made in 1917 and 1918.
the cartouche on the stock looks like a torre annunziata, but i'm not sure on that. if so, it was recycled, as torre annunziata arsenal shut down in 1900.

y'all have a good day, Keith

I love those 1891 long rifles! I wonder how rare a Midi Brescia is? I have seen and have 2 1917 Terni's that are like yours which has been restocked instead of cut down into 91/24 carbines.

Yours has also made it with out getting the barrel relined with the sleeve. There is a name for it but the experts can say when they log on. Welcome to the forum and share those Carcanos!!!

I'd sure like to have a Mida Brescia!! You just don't see them very often.

The stock cartouche looks like a repair or refurb mark. I don't speak sufficient Italian to attempt the entire word, but airdale has it. Rip... something

A genuine combat veteran and very good addition to the collection! SW

If it is the same as the RIP I asked about look at this earlier post for the explanation. Yours may be an older version or marking then this one but they probably are the same.

Riparare, Riparato or Riparazione all basically mean repair/refurb. The stock on this rifle was replaced at sometime during rework or repair as one can see where the serial number was restamped over another serial number. Nice find.
