Anybody know where I can find an assembly for the folding bayonet Carcano carbine.Bought one today that has had the assembly milled off.

There is no consistent commercial source for the assembly. Watch parts vendors at big gun shows or fleabay. Fleabay is the best bet for actually seeing them, but the price will likely exceed what you paid for the carbine.

Right, the stock mark is Crown FAG 42, SE 1858. The barrel shank is marked 942-XX, GARDONEV T, SE 1858. Please translate the 942-xx. I'm assuming it is 1942 and the XX is the month.

The M41 is marked on the barrel shank, Crown FAT 48, AQ 8767. The stock is marked FAT 1943 (in an oval),AQ 8767. Doesn't that make this a post war stock?

I edited this post because the stock is dated 1948 not 1943. Also the prefix for the serial number is AQ not AO.

I forgot to ask. Is the bayonet/sight assembly held on only by the screw or is it soldered on also?

Et2ss,I took the screw out of the bayo/sight assembly and lightly tapped on it but it wouldn't budge.Maybe I should try a bigger hammer and a block of wood?

About the sight / screw thing. mayne I misunderstood your question. I meant my bayonet assy was held in place by a screw through the sight block. Not sure about the sight itself. I would think it would be soldered?

Drift the sight blade (left to right) off and check for a small set screw in the dovetail groove. The unit is not soldered on unless someone other than an Italian arsenal done it.

These are a very close tolerance fit and being on the barrel for 60+ years it is probably going to be very snug. You may also want to try using a little heat and tap on it with a wooden or plastic mallet at the same time.
