The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. two of these were sold last weekend at auction, looked to be identical. they appear to be carcano m38's with mauser barrels, handguards, and front/rear bands. I figured they were bubba specials or maybe put together by importers. have any of you guys seen one before? Keith

There was an outfit selling a kit for these conversions, but I can't find details now. I saw a write-up on the kit by one of the "experts" in the Gun List... which is called something else now. The article didn't convert a Carcano though... can't remember what they used. ( I have CRS!)

I quit buying that rag after they published an article in which another "expert" showed how to make a "decent deer rifle" from a milsurp - he butchered a Mitchell Mauser for the article. :mad:

IIRC, the kit came with barrel & was available in different calibers. I think 45 acp was one - make a "Mauser Welrod" sort of arrangement - kit wasn't costly, but you needed a lathe to do the deal. Had a headspace gauge & a capstan nut arrangement to adjust headspace. Haven't seen any other mention of it since.

I'll get one of the rags when I go to work in a bit & see if there's still an ad for them. SW

Numrich used to sell kits to convert M93/95 Mausers to 7.62x39,maybe it was them?-TR
